- Do you love referrals as much as I do? It feels great when someone recommends you or your work, and often referrals turn into paying clients. Sometimes, it makes the selling process much faster too. So it makes sense that you should do what you can to increase your number of referrals. I'll start with the most obvious way to get more referrals, ask for them. Whether it's when you've just wrapped up with a client or some time afterword, be sure to let that client know that you'd love referrals. You can say, I had a great time working with you. If you know anyone else who needs this type of work done, please send them my way. It sounds obvious, but a lot of clients won't begin thinking about people you can help unless you ask them to. You may come to mind if someone in their network asks for your specific kind of work, but it's best to be proactive.
