- How would your boss describe their ideal employee? Do you know the answer to this question? How certain are you on their answer? What would your boss say is the most important thing that you do for the organization? If you think you know but you aren't sure, it's important for you to get clarity. If you haven't asked these questions, plan to do so soon. Ask directly, what do you do that's most important to him or her. Take good notes on their answer and make sure to align your actions with their expectations. In addition to noting what they've shared, pay attention to their behaviors. They may say one thing and focus on another and you don't want to be caught off guard by that.
