- While you may believe your manager has full say in what projects you get, if you'll earn a raise, or what role you'll play with the new client, usually there are other inputs behind the scenes contributing to the final outcome. This is especially true if your target goal includes working with a neighboring department or getting a promotion to the next level. So, it's wise to increase you visibility outside of your inner circle so others will also support your advancement endeavors. Here's how. Cross-collaborate. Perhaps you already work closely with other departments, but if not this can be a great way to meet additional resources and show them what you're capable of. Many organizations are highly siloed.
