- What do you like to do best, generate ideas, tease apart ideas challenging why they may or may not work, or transform existing ideas into better ones? Most of us have a slight preference for being either a contributor, who likes to generate ideas, an evaluator who likes to interrogate or challenge ideas, or an augmentor who likes to tweak and improve ideas. When you know your teams preferences you can improve participation in each role. Ask members of your team which of the following describes them best. A, when I notice problems, I naturally starting coming up with solutions. B, when I hear ideas, I naturally start teasing apart why they may or may not work. Or C, when I hear ideas, I naturally start thinking what I could add or subtract to make them better. You'll know whether they prefer to A, contribute ideas, B, evaluate ideas, or C, augment ideas. Beware of self evaluation tools that become pigeon holing weapons…
