- Feedback in the generations. Now that is a loaded topic. Why? Because each generation has wanted their feedback a different way. I mean think about it. For baby boomers, feedback was very formal and political. We met once a year and we discussed our performance and pay. When my generation Gen X came along we thought it was way too formal, so we asked for performance and pay to be separated, and we wanted feedback more than that once a year. Along came the millennials. Now millennials were not used to getting any bad or even constructive news. So feedback at first didn't go so well. We were handing them a box of Kleenex. But we learned that we had to ease millennials into feedback, and now they're awesome at it. But the point here is we've had to learn with each generation how to give feedback, and now we've got a whole new generation showing up, Gen Z. So how do they want their feedback?
