Four key motivators

- Take a minute and think about what motivates you at work. Is it working with a great team, or feeling like you make a difference? Maybe it's the ability to achieve something new. Knowing what motivates you and your team members can help make you a better leader. There are a lot of motivation models out there. Many of them overlap or describe similar concepts. The two models that resume with me, are self determination theory, and Daniel Pink's work that was published in the book, "Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us." Self determination theory or SDT, says that there are three inherent psychological needs that motivate people: autonomy, competence, and relatedness. Daniel Pink states, that the three main intrinsic motivators in work are autonomy, mastery and purpose.
