- When you're just starting out your team might struggle setting a predictable velocity. You might have one sprint that has the velocity of 40 and the next sprint has a velocity of 15. Since the velocity changes each time, sprint planning can become very difficult. The team doesn't know how many stories they can complete in each sprint. For some teams, this problem gets even worse over time. Teams try to complete too much or too little and that impacts the velocity of the next sprint. If you're on a team that's having this problem, one thing you might want to keep in mind is that unpredictable velocity is usually an indicator of a different problem.
