- Drama in the workplace, drama at sea. Drama happens because we're human beings, and we all come with drama, including myself. I have had fires at sea, taking on water, crew members trying to jump overboard. I've heard a story, this didn't happen to me, where a chief engineer wanted to weld the chef into the oven and start the oven. So you have these personalities and dramas that actually happen. How do you deal with that? For example, I am navigating the Suez Canal as an American, blonde, female woman. I take on an Egyptian pilot, who in his mind a female blonde could never be the captain of any vessel. So now I had that challenge. And then I had to take on another pilot and that challenge. So what I did was showed him the insurance policy that said I am the captain of the vessel. Once I showed him that, we finally got past that awkward moment, and he had to like listen to me, then I was able to navigate the…
