- Some leaders might feel uncomfortable about providing feedback directly to associates who report to other leaders. Other leaders might not provide feedback at all under the assumption that its the individuals' bosses responsibility to do so. This represents a wasted opportunity. The more quality feedback individuals receive from multiple sources, the faster and more effectively they'll develop and grow. If you're being led in a matrix, create a development plan. Share it with both of your bosses. Let them know how they can help you grow. Ask for regular feedback. Share your performance review and your self-appraisal with both bosses so they see where your growth opportunities are. If you're leading in a matrix, seek feedback on all your direct and indirect reports. Get copies of their annual reviews. Talk with your peers regularly about your people's performance.
