FMEA (Failure modes and effects analysis)

- Most of us have rented cars on vacation or on business trips. After we arrive at our destination airport, we go rent and pick up the car. Sometimes the best laid plans go wrong. They cannot find your reservation, or they are out of the car you want, or worse yet, they are sold out. You don't want that to happen in your Lean Six Sigma project. Now that your team has developed the solutions to improve the performance of why, your team needs to mitigate any risks or potential failures in the improved process. A very effective tool to do just that is the FMEA, or Failure Modes and Effects Analysis. The FMEA can be used to evaluate both current and proposed processes.
