- Now, when your kid goes to school, you probably visited the school at least once, maybe twice. Spring of junior year of high school, then you apply, and then you hopefully get into multiple schools, so you do one more round to just make sure, which school are you going to go to? Well, that's not how it worked when I was in school. So, I applied, I got into the University of Hawaii, Stanford, and Occidental, and I wanted to go to Occidental, because at Occidental, because it's, I dunno, D3 or D4 or whatever it is, I could've played football, and I loved football in high school. So I have this University of Hawaii, which is 10 miles from my house and free, Stanford, which is 3000 miles away, Occidental, which is 3000 miles away, and I tell my parents, I want to go to Occidental, play football, and my father says, you know what?
