- Let's return to our Dynamic Character worksheet. In this exercise, we'll be working on filling out part two of the worksheet, Wounds. We're going to start brainstorming some details of your character's backstory, namely their wound and how it got there, and how it's still affecting their life today, even if it's subconsciously. Remember, wounds can be created from a single fateful event in the character's past or a long lifetime of events. It's up to you. And the event, or series of events, may or may not be logically linked to their wound. But to you, the writer, it does need to make sense. If you're working with a Practice Protagonist, or your character is fairly new to you, you're starting at the beginning of this character development process. You're just getting to know this fictional person, and you might have to use the "And? So?" game to tease out some complexity and go deeper. To get started with your wound…
