- Along with being accountable to someone else, you'll also want to self-check your progress. This will help you avoid the common issue of forgetting and neglecting goals. Create a consistent appointment for yourself once every month to review any goals you're currently working on. This session will likely last 25 to 50 minutes. This review time is not so much about reviewing your successes and failures, as it is about reviewing the system for achieving your goals and recommitting to them again and again. Use this review time to repeat some of the steps in the system for achieving your goals. You may want to make small adjustments in the definition or completion date of your goal, but that's optional. If you need direction about what next steps you should take, do another session of dividing to conquer. In other words, determine where you are right now in relation to the final goal.
