- Here's the irony. For centuries, educators, trainers and others have known that interactive instruction is the best instruction, yet continually, corporate training is devoid of interactivity, and therefore, it's not engaging. It's your job to help change that. When you think about designing instruction, think about making it engaging. The key thing is that if the learners are doing something, they're engaged. If we bombard learners with screen after screen of content to be passively consumed, we're not really training them to do anything but passively listen. Instead, employ methods to make learning interactive and engaging. Have the learner answer a question, solve a mystery, make a decision, choose a side, type a sentence, or properly sequence steps in a process. There are a million things you can have the learner do.
