- A disengaged product owner is one of the greatest challenges for an agile team. Remember that product owners are responsible for distributing the work. They write user stories and then prioritize them in their product backlog. In a sense, the product owner supplies a steady stream of work that keeps the team moving forward. But lots of organizations think of product owners the same way they think of business analysts. A business analyst just creates requirements and then hands it off to the team. They throw it over the wall and wait for the developers to finish their work. So you might have a disengaged product owner that creates large epics, then they pass these off to the team.
