From the course: Components of Effective Learning

Empower your learners

- If you could make your organization's training meaningful, memorable, and motivational, how much unbridled potential could you unlock? What would it mean to you and your learners in your organization? In my lifetime, we've seen incredible advances in technology for learning. You know, the chalkboard turned into a smartboard, the pencil into an iPad, the filmstrip turned into an overhead projector, photocopier, TV, a computer with integrated video, and now the internet is powered with Artificial Intelligence. Paradoxically, with each advanced in technology, it seems we've taken one step back in the design of great learning experiences. Technology has really fooled us into thinking that simple access of information means we wouldn't need high quality instruction or training. And knowledge is power. It's power because your learner's could do things they couldn't do before. It's power, when you see a learner who believes, I can now do this task, I can do something that lots of other people cannot do. This course has shared with you how context challenge, activity, and feedback, can create empowering learning experiences, simple concept, prescriptive design components, fantastic active learning experiences. If you're interested to pursue this further, I encourage you to read the serious "Elearning Manifesto", and look into the Allen Academy for learning professionals, and even consider becoming certified in the application of the concepts presented here at LinkedIn Learning. Please follow me on LinkedIn and share all your successes with me. I sincerely hope this approach is one that you'll try to master. Your learners will appreciate it, and so will everyone who depends on you, for achieving their performance success. Thank you very much.
