- There's a lot of pressure on you to get things done. Some of this is tied to initiatives set above you that you may not have helped to shape or define. Others may be priorities that you've initiated but you won't have the time to directly manage. This is where your leadership skills are critical. As a leader you can inspire your team to give you their best, or risk getting their bare minimum effort. Here are some things you can do to empower your team. First, set them up for success. Take time early in the process to explain the expectations for the final deliverable. Allow them to ask questions and encourage them to innovate and think creatively about how they'll address the work. Explicitly walk through expectations as you understand them.
