- If you're providing employees with feedback throughout the year, you're managing their performance. Performance Management is the process used to facilitate consistent improvements in employee performance. And the foundation of the Performance Management Process is performance standards. Performance Standards are written to clarify for employees what they're expected to achieve and how will they be measured. Performance Standards are objective and include measurements of cost effectiveness, quality, quantity, and timeliness. These measurements are used as the basis for Performance Appraisals. Performance Appraisals are a formal way of providing feedback to and receiving feedback from employees. None of the methods are fail safe. You should expect some degree of error.
