Emotion
- Human beings don't make the rational, logical decisions we'd like to think we do. Research tells us that we often make sub-conscious, emotional decisions in one place in the brain and then justify those decisions logically and rationally in another place in the brain a few nanoseconds later. Now, we also tend to remember things better if they generate some kind of emotional reaction in us. So, if you want your training to be remembered and acted on later, your training stories need to evoke some kind of emotion in your audience. And it's definitely your stories that need to evoke those emotions because they're probably not going to get that emotionally engaged with your lectures. So, there are four techniques I'd like to share to help bring out the emotional component in your storytelling, and the first is just called tell me.
