- With few exceptions, your presentation will use some type of audio and visual aid, the most important being good slides. Now, the order of the slides is straightforward since it simply follows the speech you've already outlined and/or scripted out. So let's think about how much information to put on a slide. Always remember that less is more. That is, on every slide, err on providing just enough material, not every last thing you want to say. Keep it simple. Consider using the 10-second rule. Anyone in the audience should be able to look at a slide and fully comprehend it in 10 seconds or less. Otherwise, you should simplify. Same goes for the number of slides needed in a presentation. Never use 20 if you can use 15. Less is more. Now, in terms of text, the goal is to typically use a few words or bullet fragments, not complete sentences.
