- When you start working with a client, you want to be happy with the results you deliver. That way, they'll want to work with you again and can act as a reference in the future. Effective collaboration and communication is an important part of making clients happy. The work you do for a client is a project in itself. Even when it's part of a larger project the client has. To be successful, treat your contract or agreements with the client like a project plan. Work with them to identify the requirements for your work to find the deliverables and scope of work. Be sure to ask what are the success criteria to determine that you've completed your assignment? What schedule and budget have been defined for your work?
