- When science makes an advance in technology, it's foolish not to use it. It's rough riding in a car with square wheels. It's the same with the science of behavior change. Using the wrong methods, people waste time, effort, and they fail. I'll share a list of seven scientifically validated tools for changing behavior, compiled by the highly accomplished researcher Sean Young. He goes into much more detail as do other credible sources and I encourage you to explore more. But here's a starting point, a checklist. Young summarizes the seven tools with the word SCIENCE. S is for stepladders. Break down your longer-term development priorities into practical actionable small steps. Master the small doable changes one at a time step-by-step and cumulatively build toward your larger target. Example. Let's say your development priority is to strengthen executive presence.
