- Typically, keynotes are one hour long. I know that might feel like 20 years, but trust me, you'll get so comfortable with your talk that it'll feel like 20 minutes. But when we put the pen to paper and start writing your talk there are some common pitfalls, but easy solutions, I'd like you to keep in mind. A keynote and a workshop are two different kinds of talks. Workshops are more interactive and usually ask the audience to do some sort of task. A keynote can have some audience interaction, like raise your hand if, or when you get really comfortable, you can ask the audience a question and have them give answers; however, I would suggest you steer clear of this as you're getting started because you want to have control over the experience so you can make it the best it can be.
