- Have you ever been so engrossed in something, in a good way, that you forgot to eat or get up out of your chair after hours on end? This unique experience is called achieving flow. In this feel-good state, a person is so absorbed, so hyper focused on what they're doing that their sense of time is transformed, and that full emersion into the task at hand helps them go deep. It helps them stay motivated and get really big goals accomplished. That's how I feel when I'm researching my own ancestry and family tree. In this zone, I'm so excited by the discoveries I'm making that sometimes I no longer know if it's day or night.
