Developing visual frameworks

- 65% of us are visual learners according to the Social Science Research Network. We learn more quickly with our eyes than our ears. So if we want to really encourage people to pick up our ideas and carry them forward, it's important to condense them into a striking visual, easy to understand framework. When I was in school, the very first visual framework I recall learning was Maslow's hierarchy of needs. You may remember it, it conveyed a very complex idea simply and memorably. That is the idea behind frameworks generally. They condense a lot of information into a visual format so that others can quickly grasp what is being conveyed. Maslow first created that framework in the 1940s, and we're still learning from it today. That's the power of a visual framework. Not only that, but visual framework can be reused and repurposed.
