Developing quantitative metrics
- Numbers are one of the most powerful tools that we can have for making business decisions. We use quantitative metrics when we want an objective understanding of what happened without the bias of people's opinions. And when you can quantify a problem, it becomes much easier for people to agree on what needs to be done. That's why it's important to understand how to develop quantitative metrics for your projects. We generally collect quantitative data by measuring a process or a product. The first step in developing a quantitative metric is figuring out what you're trying to measure. Sometimes you can measure things directly. For example, the dimensions of a product, the time it took to complete a task, and the amount of money spent are all things that can be measured directly.
