Developing qualitative metrics

- When it comes to quality, a lot of the things that matter most are subjective. We need to know whether someone is pleased with a product or not, whether they like the way a certain feature works or whether they find it annoying. In other words, when we're managing projects, we often need to measure people's opinions. And we measure those subjective characteristics using qualitative metrics. Sometimes qualitative metrics can be a simple binary choice. For example, which pizza topping do you want, spinach or mushrooms? When we measure this kind of a choice, it's called A/B testing. Qualitative metrics can also fall across a range, like on a scale of one to 10, how much do you like pizza? So sometimes we collect the data from individuals by conducting interviews or running a survey, and other times we collect data by listening to groups, like through social listening or focus groups.
