- When you first learn of a crisis you probably won't have all the facts concerning the situation at your fingertips and yet you still need to respond quickly, within one hour, with a statement that's both factual and compassionate. What can you do? How can you respond with facts when you don't know all the facts. The answer is to respond with the hold statement. The hold statement exists to get you in front of the crisis. It helps position your organization as a credible authority for factual information.
