- One of the questions I get a lot from individuals and sometimes senior people is how do I get started in people analytics in my career? And I think there's a couple things I would advise. First of all, make sure that you really do like analyzing data because at the end of it, you're going to be an analyst, and you have to get a kick out of that. Now I get a kick out of that in my life, it's worked out well for me. But make sure that you're comfortable doing that. Number two, is to look for a company that really does take this seriously. If you go get a job as the head of people analytics, or the analyst doing people analytics, in a company that has a lot of data, but no real passion and commitment to it, you're going to have a very frustrating time. And I have seen this where very, very intelligent, very highly-skilled people went to work for a company on a team, did some incredible projects, and no one paid attention to anything they were doing.
