- Through my entire career in learning, I've been fascinated by computers. They have the ability to accommodate the needs of any number of learners and do it individually, provide unlimited practice and provide a space for the kind of learning that leads directly to performance success. Yet we now have to deal with a problematic perception. There are so many people who mistake the presentation of information for education and training. We see those boring, boring boring PowerPoint slides that are now called training, and when those slides are presented online with the quiz at the end, it's now called e-learning. You know, if just presenting information were sufficient, we wouldn't need schools, we'd only need libraries, but you and I know that's not enough. When we as designers of learning experiences provide an opportunity for learning that's meaningful, that's memorable, that's motivational, we create great learning experiences to acquire skills and knowledge.
