- Once you learn what a BA task is, we consider how we may perform the task. Techniques are the how. Techniques are how business analysts accomplish their work. As we think about the techniques, we would want to consider why and where we would use each technique. Knowing when to apply the most appropriate technique is part of being a BA professional. There are no bad techniques. There are only techniques that were used in the wrong context and at the wrong time. So to begin, we want to first start with understanding the purpose of each technique.
