- In most organizations, managers are rewarded for getting the job done. Managers direct people and resources so they can deliver a project. They usually put themselves at the center of the action. They're the face of the project and the go-to if people want something done. A lot of project managers and directors are attracted to the role of the ScrumMaster. Some like that it has a master in the title. They'll assume that they'll be doing what they've always done, mastering over the team. In reality, the role of the ScrumMaster is completely different. The master refers to mastering the scrum framework. It's a knockoff of the webmaster role from the 1990s.
