- Before we dive in and start work on our program, it's useful to understand what business drivers have helped shape the program objectives and how the objectives align with our corporate strategy. There are several tools that are used to understand the business drivers and to help the program define how they contribute to the strategic objectives. One of the most commonly used tools to analyze external business drivers is PESTEL Analysis. A second is Lewin's Force-Field Analysis which provides the business drivers and highlights the resisting forces we often encounter when delivering change. Since I've covered both of these in my Program Management Foundations course, let's use this time to talk about another tool called SWOT Analysis. A SWOT Analysis can be used for identifying strategic objectives and priorities while helping to develop a vision for your program.
