- Even if we receive our project or initiative priorities from executives, as leaders we still need to make priority decisions. At the very least, we need to help our teams establish backlog priorities. In Agile, we're very focused on doing one thing at a time until it's done. Establishing priorities is a key to ensuring the most important items are worked on first. So let's talk about a couple of prioritization techniques you can use with your teams. First, let's talk about the MoSCoW technique. This is very popular and has been successfully used for many years. MoSCoW stands for the categories the work will be slotted into. M is must and describes features that must be in the product for it to be considered successful. S is should. This represents high priority features that should be included if possible.
