Declaring success

- Executive decisions require people to do difficult things. It's kind of nice to let them know when they were successful. Let people know about the success of the decision. It builds support for future decisions, and it gives them comfort that we're making the right decisions along the way. It helps them see how their efforts contribute to the broader success of the organization. Declare success publicly. Make sure the key players who help make the decision successful are present at that announcement. If possible, let them explain the success to their peers. Make them part of that presentation. They'll appreciate the recognition. Review the organization's original rationale for making the decision and the success metrics. Share performance, cover what you got right, and also discuss what went wrong or what you learned along the way. I encourage people to celebrate milestones along the way. Again, executive decisions…
