- After your pitch is perfect, it's time to start reaching out to media contacts. Let's get serious here because at this point, you've perfected your pitch, you've perfected your headline and you know it's good. You have interesting, timely and topical information to send out to your media contacts that you've researched. But before you click send, I want you to make sure that you remember to keep it short and sweet, okay? We're not talking about an essay contest here, give the audience what they need for your pitch. Tell a story in short version, tell it short, sweet and succinct with value packed information that's going to help their audience. Then send the emails out one at a time, no mass emails. No blind carbon copy, no, "Hey there." Start with, "Dear Catherine," add some formality and some professionalism to it.
