The LinkedIn Learning library gives you access to thousands of courses and other content. If you have a LinkedIn Learning Pro license, you can also upload your own videos and documents to the platform, which will be visible to people in your organization.
- [Instructor] LinkedIn Learning has introduced a powerful new feature to the platform. And that is the ability to upload custom content in the form of videos and documents. This feature is available through LinkedIn Learning pro accounts. Now depending on your enterprise account type, you may have access to this feature. If you don't, or for further information on access, contact your LinkedIn Learning rep. Let's take a look at how to utilize this feature. And this is a feature that I really love. It allows you to add in your own customized videos, as well as documents, into your LinkedIn Learning library so you can share it out with users in your organization.
Now, in order to add it, I'm under the content tab. And then I want to make sure that I navigate from explore, all the way over here to custom content. I'll click custom content. And here's where we added links to content. So if we wanted to link to an external thing and add it to the library. Now, as a LinkedIn Learning pro account, you can upload content in the form of videos and documents. Over here to the left, you can see the different file types that are supported. And there are a ton of different video files that are supported as well as, for documents, pdfs, .docs, PowerPoints and more.
You can click here to learn about the different video or document file types to make sure that the file type you want is compatible with this platform. Now, I'm going to click on upload content. And when I do, it says here, "Custom content will only be visible "to learners within your organization." You can click here to learn more about the file types again. But I want to upload content, and I'm going to click upload from computer. Now, on my desktop, I have a folder here that is titled Custom Videos. And for instance, one here is CEO Onboarding Message.
I'm going to go ahead and select that. And as you can see, it begins adding that video into my library. Now, this is a staging area. You'll see here that this is in the content queue. Until I publish it, it will only appear in this content queue. If I want it to appear in my library, I'm going to need to publish it. Now, while this is uploading, you can click on add details. And from here, I can begin adding this. So the title is CEO Onboarding Message. I could put in a description.
I could add a thumbnail if I wanted. So I could click here on thumbnail, and then select a file from my computer in order to add that. I can choose the content language. I can decide on the skills that will be here, so I'm going to put onboarding. Custom tags, I can type in that custom tag that I had used. And when I'm done, I'll click on save. So now I've added the details to this as well. It's still loading, and once that's done loading, I'll be able to click on this publish button, and transfer it from that content queue into my library.
Now you can also upload several videos at one time. So if I go here to upload content, upload from computer, custom videos. Let's say that I wanted to add several of these. So I'll click on one and hold down shift. Once I have those selected, I'll click open. And you'll see here that it starts uploading all of these. Notice here that the CEO Onboarding Message is complete now and I can go ahead and click publish. Once I do that, it is now added into my library of custom content, so there it is.
Now I'm going to back up and go back over to the content queue. And you can see that it's queuing up the videos that I just entered in. Now, as they're loading again, I can click on add details, and begin to customize the details for each of these videos. Now, let's take a look at how I can upload documents. So I'll click here on upload content. Upload from computer, and then I have a file on here that is of Webbs depth of knowledge. And I want to go ahead and select that. And once again, you'll see here that it's uploading this document.
Again, I can go in and add in details. I could add a thumbnail by clicking here and making it so that it stand out and it's customized. In this case, I don't have one, so I'm going to click off of that. And once I am done with that and I've entered in skills, let's say instructional design, I'm going to click save. So this Webbs Depth of Knowledge has already been uploaded. I'll click on publish, and just like that, it is now saved in our library.
So that's how easy it is to add in custom content in the form of videos and documents to your organization's LinkedIn Learning library.
