The LinkedIn Learning library gives you access to a plethora of courses and content. As a LinkedIn Learning admin, you also have the ability to add your own content by linking to external content.
- [Instructor] Up to this point, we've explored how to find and recommend content that exists on the LinkedIn learning platform. You also have the ability though, to add your own content to the platform. In this video, we'll take a look at how you can add custom content to your LinkedIn learning library by adding links to online content, customer third party videos, shared documents, articles, blog posts, and more. Right now I'm on the content tab inside of my LinkedIn learning platform, and then we've taken a look at explore, learning paths, and collections, but now I want to navigate to the custom content tab.
When I click here, it brings us to the custom content page. And we already do have one piece of custom content on here. And that's the article, or the company page, that I shared when creating a learning path. Now in order to create a new piece of custom content that's linked, I can go ahead here and click on link to content. A pop up box appears, and the first thing we need to do is paste the public URL link here. So, I have this video that is Jeff Weiner talking at Talent Connect, and I want to add this as a resource inside of our LinkedIn learning library so that people within our organization can watch it.
So, I'm going go up here and copy this URL. I'll navigate back here, and then I'm going to press Command V on a Mac, it would be Control V on a PC, and paste that in there. I want this to be in English, here let's go down, and for skills I'm going to type in talent, I'll click on talent management just to add in a skill that people will get from this video. Remember that if you want to add custom tags, you can also do that.
Here we'll have skills that when you type them in, they will populate ones that already exist, but if I want to add a tag for instance here, maybe the name of our company, I can go ahead and add that and it will add that custom tag. Now up at the top, notice what happened here. So when we entered that URL, it took a little while to generate, but we now have a thumbnail, I have here a title, a description, and a URL that was all populated just from going and getting that link. Now I do have the ability to change these and edit them if I want, I can even go ahead and get rid of let's say this thumbnail, or I can upload one.
If I click on this picture icon it brings me to my files, I can go here to Desktop, and let's say I choose this, which is a very similar image if not the exact same one. But that is how you can add a customized image. Here you can see we have that customized thumbnail. So when I'm done I'm going to go ahead and click on save and publish. And it's now saved that content and you can see here that we have the next generation work force. This content is available.
It's showing here in the bottom left that it's a link to YouTube. I can recommend this by sharing it out the same way we did with other content on the platform. So that's how easy it is to add this custom content into your organizations LinkedIn learning library.
