Curating data with AI

- Projects produce data. Terabytes of it. And this data leaves behind clues. Clues that can be stitched together to uncover repeatable patterns. However, there's a challenge. A lot of the data that's generated and reported on projects is collected by people. And that's highly inefficient. For no other reason than it's time consuming. Not only is manually captured data inefficient, it tends to be incomplete, inadequate, and prone to errors. And that's assuming the data is entered at all. A number of software providers are working on solutions that embed AI into the devices and apps you're probably already comfortable using. For example, Slack and Jira. In fact, according to a Gartner study, almost 60% of organizations have already deployed AI in some capacity. It's being used to improve projects by enabling voice queries and commands. Collecting, tracking, and reporting data. And even managing schedules. But let's not jump the gun. You have to capture the right data before you can turn it into actionable insights. This is where applications such as chat bots come into play. Today, they're the most widespread application of AI in project management software. And they can save you time by providing quick support on everything. From menial tasks, to higher level predictive analytics. According to another Gartner study, 70% of white collar workers will interact with conversational platforms on a daily basis within a couple of years. This trend is expected to grow. Modern teams crave immediacy, and access to the most up-to-date information. One way organizations are dealing with this need for speed is by connecting their AI-powered software to continuous streams of computer generated and human-augmented updates. This way data is collected, curated, and available on demand. Similar to how you might watch a movie on Netflix. But how can this be done? By integrating systems with APIs. With technology such as the Internet of things. AKA IoT. Take for example CVS Health, the parent company of CVS Pharmacy and Aetna. They have health hubs that offer a variety of tech-enabled health services that are enriched with continuous streams of data collected from health apps on their customer's devices. Along with their partner's systems. This enables them to analyze data faster and offer personalized recommendations. So from a project management perspective, it might look something like this. AI-powered software that's connected to devices and apps can continuously collect data. Any data requiring human engagement can be collected by a chat bot set up to periodically request status updates from team members. Either verbally, for example through smart speakers, or via a chat window at predefined times. Additionally, the chat bot can curate the data it's collected and send out reports showing the status of tasks that are backlogged, in progress, as well as completed. This democratizes data by making it fully transparent, instantly available, and highly actionable. You and your team will spend less time curating data. Because AI-powered chat bots and machines can do it better. Way better.
