- Every year I tell myself, "I want to be a better friend." You know what? I'm not sure if I've ever achieved it, but I'm not sure that I haven't achieved it either. Why? Because I never define what I mean by better friend and I don't set any specific goals or measure change in any way. Of course goal-setting theory tells us there's a better way. I might set a goal to call a friend once a week or maybe once a month, if I'm more realistic. And this logic extends to your DIBs Program. You need to define what you mean, set a goal and measure change. It's important to know that setting goals of all the different diversity interventions, has the largest impact on change. So let's talk about how to set demographic goals and then how to set culture goals. It's relatively easy to set demographic goals, if you define your needs.
