Creating an idea workshop
- When do you get your best ideas? In the shower, while driving, where you have nothing to jot them down? Turns out studies reveal three optimal conditions for getting in this idea zone. Dopamine, the motivator molecule, a relaxed state, and distracted mind, meaning not too focused on generating ideas or solving problems. Conduct an idea generation workshop to show your team how to create this idea zone and provide exercises for capitalizing on it and they'll have the ability and desire to generate ideas. When setting up your workshop, establish a comfortable setting, important for a relaxed state and boosting dopamine. Suggest comfortable clothes, dim the lights, and put on instrumental music. Why music? Neuroscientists found that instrumental music releases dopamine in the dorsal and ventral striatum.
