- [Interviewer] Give us some examples here in terms of continual, I guess limits or expectations that seem to be extra universal and extra limiting in terms of the biggies. - [Woman] Yeah, so there's the teacher, right, when you're growing up, who says you should do this or you should be that, and that teacher has no crystal ball. They have no Ouija board. They just, maybe they've said something as an aside on some random day and we take it as definitional. Or maybe it's a parent or a grandparent. After I dropped out of law school and found myself in Washington, DC, the definition of success came to me in the form of a six foot two nice medical student named Alan who my mom thought was going to be the answer to all of my prayers, right, that was the definition of success for her, was get married to a nice Jewish doctor. Now, that wasn't my definition of success because every time I kissed Alan, all I could think of was milk…
