Create your new brand
- If a career change is in your future, creating a branded career story is a critical step. Even if you haven't spent time consciously building a professional brand, others likely associate you with your former industry or function. And you may even inadvertently be sending mixed signals as you transition to your new career identity. So let's wipe this slate clean and build your new branded career story in four simple steps. First, demonstrate why. Humans like to make sense of things. People will be curious why you're changing careers and a logical compelling answer will go far in showing your motivation for your switch. Start by asking yourself, "Why am I making this change?" Your response should be genuine or a hire will see right through it. But although authenticity is key, you don't need to share every detail.
