- Corporate social responsibility strategic planning is a process, and just as with any strategic planning process, it begins with getting a commitment from leadership. In the executive commitment phase, a business case must be made that shows how the strategy will create value for the organization, including explanation of financial growth from new product innovations, cost savings from green initiatives, and better risk management. In the assessment phase, organizations review existing CSR systems for their sustainability, and get feedback and recommendations from stakeholders on the effectiveness of current CSR systems. The third step is to create the infrastructure that will provide guidance on and champion the CSR strategy. HR is a natural fit at this stage because HR can educate stakeholders on ethical management and be a liaison between communities and the organization.
