- Because the way we work has shifted so much, we actually found some new mindsets inside the organizations we have studied. One of these mindsets is caring. What is caring? Caring is an emotion that drives us to remain connected to the other individual. For example, we may go in a meeting and fiercely argue about a topic, but we know in our hearts that we remain in good faith. Even though we are arguing now, we're going to go have a beer afterwards together. The interesting thing about having a culture of caring is that these organizations report a number of outcomes. There is reduced absenteeism, for example, higher safety ratings, higher engagement, etc. We asked ourselves, what's driving these outcomes, and we found something named virtuousness. Virtuousness is about an individual or an organization's wanting to become what they would be at their best. How do we develop virtuousness as a people leader?
