Contrast bias

- In everyday decision-making, we may catch ourselves comparing people and things to help us place them in a familiar frame of reference. We will take two or more things and compare them to one another, instead of having each one stand on its own merit or credibility. In doing so, we're using contrast bias to help us make decisions. The contrast bias is often used as a filter when recruiters or hiring managers are reviewing several resumes for the same position. Instead of taking the time to review each candidate based on their own unique qualifications and experience, the hiring manager may opt to take a shortcut to save time and contrast each resume against the one they most recently reviewed.
