- When working in virtual environments, a key engagement element is considering your visuals. Visuals are anything that people can physically see. You want anything that helps those participating literally get on the same page. And visuals can easily provide the interaction elements we lose when we're not physically face-to-face. Visuals can be as simple as turning on your camera. Your participants see you. You see them. Showing your participants that you're fully engaged, that you're not multi-tasking or checking email, is critical. The more that you appear engaged, the more that your participants will be engaged. So with this in mind, you need to consider which techniques are best for your virtual sessions before you ever begin.
