- Work is so much better when you're excited and interested in what you're doing. As a leader, how do you get your team excited about the work your organization does? How can you get your team to support the organization as if they were leading it? Successful leaders in government link their team's accomplishments with the organization vision and mission, get them to buy into both, and keep everyone focused. Vision is what a company wants to be in the future. Mission describes how you're going to meet the customer needs in the present. For example, the U.S. Census Bureau's vision is to be the leading source of high quality, timely, relevant, and cost-effective statistical information supporting the nation's decision-makers. Their mission is to serve as the nation's leading provider of quality data about its people and economy.
