- We need to break down those silos. That's typically what I hear when I ask senior leaders why they've been asked to join a team of other functional leaders. Take those walls and break 'em down. There are a lot of ways to do that, but there's something that I see senior teams miss all the time, and I want to bring focus to it. First off, I want to honor the fact that, when senior leaders join forces, they generally do a pretty good job of keeping the communication flowing, so we may not feel like silos exist between one another and they probably don't. They actually exist somewhere below us. So the act of you returning back to your team to report what you're picking up from your senior team meetings, that's probably not enough. That act won't do enough to improve collaboration or break down those silos below you. What we don't see enough of within these teams is a development of purposeful connection points…
