- Welcome, to the course of Motivational 1-2-1 Meetings for Managers. Now, we've all been in meetings with our own managers, where we've left and actually felt less motivated than when we went in. And the chances are your manager also felt demotivated. It could be that some of the individuals in your team who've been in meetings with you and felt worse afterwards. So why is it people find meetings so hard? Well, there's just so much going on in meetings. And time and again, I get asked my tips and tactics to help people and managers feel better about being in review meetings. So what we're going to cover on this course is first thing we going to do is just help get your mindset straight for 1-2-1 review meetings. How should you be thinking about the meetings that you're going to be having? Secondly, we're going to think about do you really understand what makes each individual in your team tick? If you don't know what their motivators are the likelihood is, have you changing their behavior is almost zero. We're then going to think about how do you actually prepare for 1-2-1 meetings? Often, if you haven't prepared, it's very difficult to make sure you cover the things you want to cover in a way that will motivate them. And the last thing I'm going to do is give you super simple structure to run a 1-2-1 review meeting. And hopefully that will give you all the skills you need to feel much more motivated to yourself when you next go into a meeting to motivate those in your team.
